All children joining our math program will be assessed with an evaluation test. This helps us to understand the student’s current mathematics level, allowing us to place them in a class that will be both challenging and comfortable; starting at the right level is essential to a student’s progress, as it prevents the student from being either too bored or too challenged.
Throughout the program CM4K conducts tests on a regular basis to evaluate progress, and to identify areas that the teacher needs to work with the student on.
Math Class Courses
Introduction to mathematics at an early age helps to foster a liking and familiarity with a subject of extreme importance. Our goal is to provide a solid foundation and a head start for all our students. Our intensive math program helps our kids to develop core math skills and raise grades and performance in the classrooms.
We offer two kinds of math classes: 1) Early Learners Math 2) Abacus Mental Math
Early Learners Math
Our Early Learners math enrichment program is unlike any class your child has ever experienced. Our students not only have fun in the classroom, but also develop critical reasoning skills and a genuine understanding of the logical reasoning processes required to solve advanced math problems.
We focus on tutoring younger children to understand the concepts and logic before practicing on the worksheets. We have noticed a large difference in the progress made by the students who just practiced with worksheets compared to the students who were tutored first and then practiced the worksheets: tutored students progressed faster into the next levels.
Our math curriculum closely matches with common core curriculum, and is designed to raise students’ basic academic skills, while simultaneously increasing verbal and reading skills. We offer math programs for students of all grade levels. Our math programs focus on algebra, advanced algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, advanced calculus, and SAT math.
Students are provided with math homework sheets to practice at home.
Our young elementary school students learn addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division based on the grade level. We constantly challenge and evaluate our students with tests and next grade level concepts.
Addition: single and double digit addition, complex double digit addition, complex triple digit addition. Students learn horizontal counting first followed by vertical counting.
Subtraction: single and double digit subtraction, complex double digit subtraction, complex triple digit subtraction.
Other areas of focus will be negative and positive numbers, measurements by length, weight, volume, reading time, counting money, multiplication, and division.
Our intensive middle school math program focuses on fractions, algebra, advanced algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, advanced calculus, and SAT Math.
This program maintains a good balance between learning, practicing, and solving puzzles.
